Planning Your San Blas Sailing Trip: Logistics and Considerations
Navigating the Darien Gap: Travel Options to Panama
Let's be honest, overland travel between Colombia and Panama is a non-starter. The Darien Gap, a vast, untamed jungle, presents a formidable, and frankly dangerous, barrier. Forget about roads; there aren't any. So, unless you're an intrepid adventurer with a serious penchant for risk (and perhaps a hefty insurance policy!), your options boil down to air or sea.
Flights are the quicker, cheaper route. But, if you're seeking an unforgettable experience – and who isn't? – then a boat journey is the clear winner. Think pristine Caribbean islands, sun-drenched days, and nights under a sky brimming with stars. It's an adventure in itself, not just a means of transport.
We opted for the latter, embarking on a five-day sailing trip aboard the Wild Card. It wasn't exactly luxurious – think cozy rather than spacious – but the trade-off was worth every slightly cramped moment. Sharing the journey with fellow travellers added to the fun, and let's just say we got to know each other very well over the next few days!
