Arrival and First Impressions of Antigua
Arrival in Antigua & Initial Thoughts
Our arrival in Antigua was, shall we say, *eventful*. After a connecting flight in El Salvador, we experienced a rather mysterious delay. The airline staff denied the delay, despite the obvious evidence – a truly bizarre experience! But we eventually landed, slightly frazzled but otherwise unscathed.
Checking into our hostel, a charming place with a cozy, almost grandmotherly feel, immediately calmed our nerves. A private room and the promise of a volcano view from the terrace? Sold! After a quick freshen-up, we ventured out. And I'll be honest, I fell in love with Antigua instantly. Within minutes of stepping onto the cobblestone streets, the city's beauty and peaceful atmosphere completely captivated me. The air hung calm and inviting – a far cry from the airport chaos.
Antigua's charm is undeniable. The colonial architecture is simply stunning, and there's a tranquility to the place that I found immediately soothing. The city felt safe and welcoming; even a quick wander felt like an adventure, a promise of more fascinating discoveries just around the corner.
