Arrival and First Impressions of Arequipa
Arrival and First Impressions
Rule and I arrived in Arequipa very late on Friday—around 3:00 a.m., to be precise. After a long journey from Bolivia, we were absolutely exhausted. The first few days were all about rest and recovery; we mostly slept, recharged our batteries, and indulged in some serious relaxation.
But even in our sleepy state, we couldn't help but notice the beauty of Arequipa. Every street we glimpsed seemed picture-perfect, even at that hour. This city is stunning! The initial impression was one of charm and quiet elegance—a welcome change from the sometimes frenetic energy of other South American cities.
Our first accommodation wasn't ideal – it was a bit small and dark, honestly, a little claustrophobic. But even that minor inconvenience couldn't completely dampen our spirits. A quick change to a more spacious hotel with an actual window solved the problem, proving that sometimes a little splurge is perfectly justified. And with that, we were ready to truly explore Arequipa’s treasures.
